What are the limits to watch for?

AI is capable here, but it is not flawless, and knowing where it slips will save you trouble. Keep three limits in mind.

A very long document may not fit all at once. Every tool can only hold so much text at a time, a limit called the context window. Think of it as a desk that only holds so many papers: pile on too many and some slide off. If your document is very long, split it into sections and feed them in one at a time.

A scanned or photographed PDF is a picture, not text. Unless the tool can recognise the letters in an image, it may not read them at all, and even when it can, faint or slanted print trips it up. And AI can misread tables and numbers, lining up the wrong figure with the wrong label. So verify anything important, numbers most of all, against the original.

Is it safe to upload private documents?

Here is a caution worth taking seriously. When you upload a file to a public AI tool, you are handing it to a service you do not control, and it may be stored or reviewed to improve the tool. That is fine for a news article or something already public.

It is not fine for confidential or personal documents. Client contracts, medical letters, financial records, anything with someone’s private details: keep these out of public tools unless your workplace has formally approved a specific tool for that use. When in doubt, leave it out, or remove the sensitive parts before you upload.
